Hi All, I wonder if someone might be able to clarify a few things for me please. I'm a Canadian in the UK and currently have held ILR since April 2012. When this was granted I don't recall ever hearing about any Biometric Enrolment or Biometric Residency Permits and nothing was ever mentioned from the solicitor or from any home office documents. I recently came across a job site that mentioned that in order for employers to hire new staff, they are required to check for the BRP? I was told originally that as long as I had my Resident Permit stamped in my passport even if it was expired it was still valid and could be used for work, and only if I travelled abroad would I be wise getting the new stamp in my passport. I have a new passport(Canadian Passports are only valid for 5 years and have a few years left on it) but have not had it stamped with the ILR resident permit. Do I now need a BRP and a new stamp in my passport in order to change jobs? Where do you get the BRP from? Do you need to apply for this first before applying for the ILR stamp?
Any information would be greatly received. Thanks.
