ILR andNTL Form Question

Post by ElderOne » Sun Nov 27, 2016 9:34 pm

Hi All, I'm currently filling the NTL form in for a BRP as my old ILR stamp in my passport has expired and I'm a bit confused. :? On the Section 3 - Personal History under 3.12. 'Please state what ties you have with; -The country where you were born. - Any other country whose nationality you hold. -Any country where you have lived for more than 5 years."

On the 'Any country where you have lived for more than 5 years' does this then mean as I live in the UK for more than 10 years that I include the UK in this list and add the social cultural or family ties i.e. spouse in this area?

Any info would be appreciated to help so that I can fill in this section and get this form sent off tomorrow. I did not find the information in the NTL guidance notes at all.

Thanks.

Why do you want to apply for NTL?

My understanding is that as my ILR stamp is in a old out of date passport, I could be refused employment with a new employer if I changed jobs as I would require an up to date document such as a BRP as proof to be able to work. I don't have a BRP and was not given one back when I was granted ILR years ago nor was it even mentioned. The Home Office website says to use the NTL form if "You have permission to settle (‘indefinite leave to remain’) You can transfer your visa to a BRP by applying for a ‘no time limit stamp’ (NTL)."

Is there any other way to get a BRP or any other form to use? Do I need a BRP if I change jobs? My original ILR was granted about 4 years ago and just states for type of permit - 'Settlement'.

I'm just confused with it all at the moment.

Thanks

Yes, you will require a BRP if you wish to change jobs.
