Please help, knowledge of language requirements

Post by cindy88 » Fri Dec 02, 2016 11:09 am

Good morning everyone,
my husband and I are applying for naturalization, we are both italian citizens who have been living in the UK for 8 and still waiting for the permanent resident status approval from HO.

I'm going through the application form + booklet and guide to make sure we meet all the requirements.

However, I think we might have a problem with the knowledge of the language part; we both passed an English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) examination issued by University of Cambridge, back in 2008. As far as I've understood these don't seem to be valid anymore, I checked the list of approved tests but I can't find any ESOL examination...
That means we must resit another test, I guess, could anyone please confirm this??? Thanks.

Furthermore, I achieved a BSc with the Open University (studied here in the UK) in December 2015, and perhaps this would suffice (for me) as proof of knowledge of language.. I looked for a list of approved Universities but I couldn't find any, could anyone point me to the right direction?
Many thanks for your help.

Kind regards
Cinzia

ESOL is no longer accepted. This was removed from the list on 15th November 2015.

A UK degree should be sufficient for you yes.

Bear in mind that you will need to keep checking the requirements and forms as they do change, often without notice. So its depends on how long you will stil wait for you DCPR.
