Tier 2 visa extension

Hi Manci,

Tier 2 General visa of my wife is due to expire in June 2017 however she wants to renew it earlier as she will be on pregnancy leave and planning to travel during that time. As per the guidance the extension work start date has to be one day after the current work date expires and based on call center you can only apply 28 days ahead in advance.

Employer has already issued the CoS now with work start date of June 2017 and if she goes for extension just before the CoS expires (early March 2017) will that work ?? as that would be more than 90 days before the work start date OR do we need to push the work start date in the 90 days bracket and then apply for visa.

A CoS needs to be used in an application within 90 days of it's issuance + The earliest you can apply is 90 days before the start date mentioned in CoS.

Ensure these two conditions are met when you apply.

Thank you, I think a new CoS needs to be issued with an earlier start date to match the conditions. I can't find any document which says you can apply 90 days in advance before the current leave runs out.

There isn't one. You can apply for an extension at any point, but moonlight55's advice is accurate regarding CoS.
