Where do I find my UKVI reference number (UKNxxxxx)

We are applying for a visa for my wife to permanently join me in the UK. We have completed the application on the UK Visa and Immigration website and it is now telling us register with the commercial partner; VFS Global.

The VFS Global site is asking us to give our reference number, a number which starts with UKN and has 8 numbers. We have a GWF number, but that doesn't work as it has 9 numbers.

Can someone aid us?

Most visa applicants outside the UK don't have one so would leave it blank.

The Visa Online Application site said the next step was to fill out an application with VFS Global, but when I try to do an application on VFS Global it says that applicant already exists. We already have booked an appointment date via the first site so I do not understand the need to register with the commerical partner (VFS)?

Hi,
I am in the same boat as you. I am trying to book an appointment and money has been deducted from my account already but at the end it says your reference number cannot be found. The reference number I have from UKVI website starts from UKVI_ and not UKN. Please someone help. It is a compulsary field.
