I am 9 weeks into application process and no one has made any contact with me yet. I am worried because my husband came into the UK on a student visa and then he overstayed for 4 years. The lawyer advised that he if makes a voluntary departure and leaves at his own expenses, then this would not be an issue to his entry clearance. My husband informed the Voluntary Team, gave evidence he is leaving the UK e.g. copy of his plane ticket. He left the UK in May and it has been 4 months since his departure. I have not yet received my supporting documents from Sheffield. I contacted my lawyer, he said sometimes they send this back once they have made a decision on the application.

I have 3 weeks left to hear back on a decision, but the wait is making me anxious...

My wife has been granted the UK Settlement visa. She applied from Bangladesh. Below is the visa timeline:

People who applied for settlement visa on a non-priority basis, normally able to hear an update within 3 months. It didn't happen in my case. I had to contact UKVI numerous times for an update. I was told in mid-August that a decision was made on the 26th June 2019 but there was a technical issue in printing the visa. I think the passport was sitting in the British High Commission in Dhaka and they forgot the contact the applicant for collecting the passport. I finally decided to contact the local MP in the UK. He then chased the UKVI and replied to me on the same day saying that I will receive the passport soon. Luckily, my wife received an SMS from VFS Sylhet saying that the passport is ready for collection.
