Lost ILR Documentation

Post by dedside » Mon Dec 19, 2016 7:29 pm

Hello,
I would greatly appreciate some advice,
I have been granted ILR in 1996, I had moved here at the age of 10 or 11 with my mother,
I received a Visa sticker in my passport and a stamped letter, I have lost both my old passport and the letter since then and now I'm having problems because of this.
I am trying to claim Jobseekers Allowance and they require proof of my ILR despite me having claimed and provided this documentation before as I first claimed benefits around the age of 16, now I am 31.
I do not have the £200 or so to get a biometric card, so I am desperate to find a cheap alternative of providing some kind of confirmation of my status, any sort of official letter would be enough.
Can anyone advise on what I could do?

Many thanks,
Tom

Cheapest would be to apply for a Subject Access Request asking for your history HO holds on your immigration status.

You will however at some point have to apply for a BRP card indicating your ILR. You won't be able to get a job if you don't.
