Home Office call

Post by ravisb_2014 » Fri Dec 23, 2016 10:01 pm

Hi All,
Hope everyone doing great and excitingly waiting for christmas and new year.

Not sure if this had been discussed earlier. Apologies if I am repeating it.
Today morning, my wife (dependent) received a call from home office (020 7035 4848). They asked her if she had internet access or not. She replied no. Then they asked where is your husband. She replied he is at office and they have taken my contact number from her.

Then they called me. As I was in meeting so I could not receive the call and later I saw I received 5 missed calls from the same number.

I googled for "home office contact number" and came to know that it's a home office number. I am just wondering whether it's fake call or actually from home office.

If anyone has come across like this, please let me know.

Did you think to call the number?

However, there's certainly no harm in being cautious. See the relevant post with the same telephone number in this thread:

Members should also be aware of the following on receiving such a call:

1. NEVER give personal details over the phone; passport number, bank details etc.

2. If asked to verify the caller by dialling the number, always do this from a different phone. The scammers don't hang up and are still on the line when you dial in on the same phone.

I tried calling this number today. I connects to home office and provides various options to connect to different departments. As I am on VISA, I selects the first option and it gives some more options for different kind of visas. I disconnected as I am not able to connect to anyone and it's just prompting me various options. I hope it's a fake call.

I again called the home office customer care number (03001232241 - i presume this is the actual number). they work only monday to thursday so could not get anyone to speak.
