Inner workings of a dependant (Tier 2) visa

Post by delilahb » Tue Jan 03, 2017 9:30 pm

Hello,

Thanks in advance for any help on this. I can find bits of the info I need in threads here, and on the internet, but I'm not sure that's sufficient, so thought I would start a new thread.

I was sponsored by my employer last year in September on Tier 2 (restricted CoS). My husband - whose company in the UK cannot sponsor him just as yet - needs to apply as a dependant on my visa.

1. Can he switch within the country? If not, where do we go to apply (eg, website). Can he apply on the visa4uk website?

2. How much does he need to prove he has? I don't know if it's £630 or £945.

3. Do I need to again prove that I have £945? If so, can I use a UK account as well as an international account?

Also - the reason his company cannot sponsor him as yet is that they have been told they have not acquired 'credits' - anyone know what this means?

Thank you so much again.

What is his current visa category?
1. Can he switch within the country? If not, where do we go to apply (eg, website). Can he apply on the visa4uk website?
Yes but depends what his current visa status is. It is an online form only.

Is the company an HO approved sponsor? If yes, perhaps they don't have any CoS allocation left and would simply have to request. Unless they are trying to pull the wool over his eyes with stories.

Thanks so much for your reply, I shall read those links. He is on a Youth Mobility (Tier 5) visa. Is it possible for him to switch from within the country with this?

Thanks a lot.

Yes he can switch within the UK but it must be done before his current visa expires.
