Visitor visa then fiancee visa question

Post by David5516 » Wed Jan 04, 2017 3:58 pm

Hello, my girlfriend had a visitor visa to the UK. It recently expired. If she gets a new visitor visa, comes to the UK say in February, can she apply for a fiancee visa when she goes home? Or does the visitor visa have to run the full 6 months to expiry before she can apply for a different class of visa? I can't find the answer anywhere on the Gov site so your help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks

When did she last leave the UK?

She can apply for a fiance visa at any point when she meets the requirements, regardless of whether she has a valid visit visa or not. If successful with the fiance visa, the visit visa will simply be cancelled.

That's very helpful, thank you.
She was here last August.
Do you have a link to a government website where I can see that information or is it based upon your own experience?

It is not listed in gov documents as it is not a requirement to wait for one visa to end before applying for another.
