UK Expat travelling to UK with SA partner

Post by mavrom » Mon Jan 09, 2017 4:41 pm

My mother (a South African Citizen) is coming to visit me in the UK along with her long-term partner (a British Citizen). They will only be visiting for 3 weeks and I was wondering, which visa application she needs to complete and whether she pays for the application?

She applies for a standard visitor visa. Yes she has to pay the visa application fee.

She must show strong ties to SA, i.e. personal and financial circumstances, to convince the ECO that she will leave the UK at the end of her visit.

Make sure she has travel insurance in place. She will not be entitled to use the NHS for free if she needs medical attention.
