Apply to join family living permanently in the UK

Post by PeterH90 » Fri Feb 03, 2017 10:46 am

Hello,

I have a question regarding the visa to apply to join family living permanently in the UK. It says that one of the conditions for this visa is being engaged to be married, on this condition it says you must be married within 6 months of arriving. It also states the initial stay will be 6 months if you applied as an engaged partner or proposed civil partner. Does this mean that on this condition the visa is only valid for 6 months? and once married you would then need to apply for the visa to remain in the UK with family? (Essentially paying for 2 visas?)

Another question I have regarding this Visa, is it multi visit?

Thanks!

Yes if you are looking at a fiance visa, valid for 6 months. Once married, yes, you have to apply for a spouse visa, paying visa fee and immigration health surcharge. This visa will be for 2.5 years.

If you are already married, you apply directly for a spouse visa from abroad.

Yes a multi visa if you mean can you travel out of the UK and re-enter. You should also note that you cannot work on a fiance visa.
