BC eligibility and English Language Requirement

Post by 09tier1 » Sat Feb 11, 2017 1:10 pm

Hi Friends,

I have below 2 queries please...

1. I came to UK in March 2011 (Tier 1) and I applied for ILR on 2nd April 2016 through postal service and I got the ILR in August 2016 (date of issue mentioned on ILR card is Aug 2016) . So my question is, am I eligible to apply for Naturalisation from May 2017 or Aug 2017? (we need 1yr ILR, so if I consider date of ILR application then it is April, if I consider ILR issue date then it is Aug).

2. I have PG taught in English (outside UK) and when I applied for ILR (and in previous Tier 1 extensions also) I submitted my PG certificates as proof of English Knowledge. So my question is, still I need to provide NARIC ELA certificate as proof of English? or it is not required as I already proven it when I applied for ILR??

Thank you,

The 12 months on ILR is counted from date of ISSUE not date of application. You will have to wait till August 2017, unless married to a British citizen, then you can apply sooner.

Hi Friends,

In page 15 of "AN_Booklet", it is mentioned that...

If you have already satisfied the requirement to have sufficient knowledge of language and life in the UK for settlement, by applying on or after 28 October 2013, you do not have to demonstrate it again.

So could anyone please confirm? as I found some posts in this forum that still we need to submit NARIC ELA certificate.. so i am in bit confusion...

Thank you again,

Just tick that box on the form. If HO require proof of meeting the requirement again, they will write to you.
