Can parents come back to U.K. Before 6months on 2year visa

My friend is in Uk from last many years. She is British now. Her parents come every year on six months visa. But last year they applied for 2 year visa so that not to apply again and again.

They came last year on 10 July 2016 and went back to their country on 6 jan 2017. My friend booked their tickets for 20 feb 2017 to join her back again .

Heard from some people that family members can only stay till 6 months in uk in a one calendar year.

She is worried now. She has booked the tickets and they haven't completed 6 months stay outside uk. They went back to their country India in jan 2017 and now coming back again to uk next week.Will airport officials not allow them to enter uk? They hv two years visa. Plz help.

Yes, there will be problems, the visa is max. 6 months in every 12, irrespective of length, be it 2, 5 or 10 years.

Also staying for extended periods on any visit visa is frowned upon, 6 months is not a visit, it's residency.

How about if they both try to come and don't cancel the tickets. May be immigration officials will allow my mom to enter if she says she will go back soon. She will go after six months. Is it risky?

Yes it is risky and they can both be refused entry.

If they are lucky and get in and then leave after 6 months, don't expect them to be allowed to enter again while their visa is valid and expect a rough time with any future application as they have effectively lied about how long they will be 'visiting' and are in effect, using a 2 year visit visa to live in the UK.

I hope that they are not and have not utilised free NHS services and are paying the 150% cost of EVERYTHING they might need to use, including GP, medicines etc.

It's 6 months in any 12 VALIDITY, fact is nowadays due to abuse anyone staying 5/6 months at once will find their history scrutinised by the IO. My own personal theory is the bar is set because at 183 days, one becomes tax resident in the UK, and that opens a new door to a room of mahoosive woes.
