Bring widow mother 65 years permanently for 3 years

Post by sayantanmodak » Wed Feb 15, 2017 11:28 am

Hi,

I would like to know on Tier 2 UK visa would I be able to get my mother to stay in UK for 3 years at a stretch.

She is living alone, widowed, sister in US, and no family member to look after.

Is this the only way

"In the situation where a visa holder would like their parents to accompany them, this may be possible, although an extremely high burden of proof is placed upon the applicants to demonstrate that the parent is financially dependant solely on the main applicant, and that if the parent were not permitted to accompany the main applicant, they would suffer undue hardship as a result. Comprehensive evidence of this dependence is required and if the parent cannot provide this, or has any other adult children in their home country who are capable of supporting them, any application made on this basis is likely to be refused."

If this is possible and on what grounds, please elaborate, also please call if required.

Impossible, the rules are quite plain;
Tier 2 (General) visa

8. Family members

Your family members (‘dependants’) can come with you when you come to the UK on this visa.

A ‘dependant’ is any of the following:

your husband, wife or partner
your child under 18
your child over 18 if they’re currently in the UK as a dependant

The gov link above that you have posted is for a parent of a person with ILR or BC and is a very difficult visa to get. It is not relevant to a Tier 2 visa holder, who are not able to bring their parents as Wanderer has already advised.

Also, kindly refrain from posting contact details or unverified or other immigration webite third party weblinks. Only official gov weblinks should be posted.
