I'm hoping the experts here can confirm my understanding of British immigration/citizenship law:
I am a dual US/UK citizen (recently registered British, through descent via mother, pre-1983).
I have always lived in the U.S. My wife (US citizen) and I are relocating to the UK.
My understanding is that - despite guidelines stating that spouses can be naturalised after 3 years living in the UK - my wife would ACTUALLY need to get spouse visas until we live in the UK for 5 years after which she could apply for settlement (ILR) and only THEN apply for citizenship via naturalisation. So 5 years is currently the quickest path to citizenship via marriage to a British spouse.
Is this correct given my situation?
