Online application form question

Post by cmu » Tue Feb 21, 2017 5:22 pm

Hi,

I have a query about one of the questions on online application form (for settlement/spouse visa).

I was living in London as a masters student with TIER4 Student visa. Before my visa expired in May 2016 I made an application to switch my student visa to another visa type(business visa). In September, Home Office sent me a letter that stated my visa application has been refused. Then I applied administrative review on time. But In end of October I received another letter from Home Office that stated my administrative review application has been unsuccesful and I had to to leave the UK. So I contacted with UK Voluntary departure and I voluntarily left the UK in 20 days after I received the last letter. I got married with my wife(British) last week. And I will make an application for settlement visa as a husband to come to the UK.

When I was filling the online application form, I came across a question which makes me confused:

- "Have you been deported, removed or otherwise required to leave any country including the UK in the last 10 years?" How should I answer that question? I haven't been deported or removed. I voluntarily left the UK. But I am not sure if I have been required to leave the UK?

You answer it as yes. Saying no, when HO has ALL the information on you, will be 'withholding material facts/deception'.
.........or otherwise required to leave any country including the UK
Did you miss this? You were asked to leave the UK.
