No Surname in Indian Passport - British Passport Issue

Post by ukunik » Thu Feb 23, 2017 11:50 am

Hi,

I am in a similar situation with an Indian passport with no surname. For some reason they combined the surname with the first name and added it to the Given Name field as XXXX YYYY.

I have read this very useful thread which has answered my major doubts (Thanks IB!) but I have a few queries for my case.

1. All my official documents (Driving Licence, Car Reg, Life in the UK Test Certificate) have got my name in the formation as First Name XXXX and Surname YYYY. What formation should I enter as my name on the Form AN and Passport Application form? Should I still add First Name XXXX YYYY and leave surname field blank to match my passport?

2. When I applied for ILR, I again used my name to match how it was in my Life in UK test certificate (First Name XXXX, Last Name YYYY) - will this cause any issues if I now leave surname blank to match my current passport?

3. In all of my documents, including my Indian PP, I never used my father's surname and used his name only as AAAA BBBB (adding BBBB as his surname) and that is how my father's name is in parent's details section on India PP. BUT, my father's name on his passport and other official documents is including the surname 'AAAA BBBB CCCC' - now in my Form AN and Passport Application form, should I include my father's name to match my father's passport or just leave it out and give it as 'First Name AAAA' and 'Surname BBBB' to match all my documents and passport?

I would really appreciate moderator's and senior member's help with this as I have my appointment with NCS tomorrow and getting confused with these doubts.
