Switch from Tier 2 ICT to Tier 2 Dependent

Hi All,

I am currently on Tier 2 ICT Long term Visa and its my 3rd year so 2 more years I have and it will expire in May 2020.

My wife holds Tier 2 General visa.

My question is :
When my 5 years are over will I have to leave country and wait for cooling period or I can switch to Tier 2 General dependent after my visa expires?

What is the best time to switch to Tier 2 General dependent

any pointer or help is much appritiated
