Hi there!
I'm currently working in the United Kingdom on the Youth Mobility Scheme (YMS) Tier 5 Visa. It expires on the 31st of March 2017 and I was just wondering how long I can stay in the UK after it expires? My last working day will be on the 30th of March and I was intending on travelling around the UK visiting friends for approximately a month before flying home to Australia in April.
Thank you!

I think that you may
overstay up to 90 days, without incurring an entry ban. But you
cannot use the NHS for free, except perhaps
A&E. You may also face problems with your
landlord.
You may face a
hostile environment.

Yeah that shouldn't be a problem. I will be travelling and staying with friends so I'll have no issues with landlords, etc. I just don't want to get in trouble with immigration when I try to leave the UK and I most certainly don't want to have a black dot next to my name when I try to re-enter the UK in the future. Any further information from anyone would be much appreciated!
Cheers

You'll get trouble in future if you overstay at all. Even 1 day, technically, although it gets worse the longer it goes on. The date you're landed to is when you can stay until. Stay a day longer and you're illegal.

If your long term plans are to return to the UK then any overstay period will work against you.
With a potential one year ban as a minimum you have to way up the risk involved against your plans.
Also you should consider the fact that other countries will view the period of overstay as an issue if you intend to visit say the USA.
You should be aware that there is automatic checking of PBS visas to match visa expiry to departure dates from the embark data gathered. So even if you are not stopped at the airport you will still have a data match showing you overstayed.

Hi Chris,
Could you let me know how you went? Im in a similar situation. My visa end on the 11th of June and my partner has a visa until 11th July. We plan on leaving the 30th of June for good. Can't really find a firm answer on this grace period.
Thanks,
Britt

Hi,
I did have a look however it appears some of the information is out of date. Just wondering if someone could provide what happened to them when they overstayed
Thanks
