Letter samples examples

Post by tails2 » Sat Mar 04, 2017 1:06 pm

Hi

We are looking to apply for a visa for my fiancee who is Brazilian so we can get married here in the UK. She has employed an agency in Brazil to deal with the visa, they are asking me to provide the following.

Letter from my mother
Letter from myself
Letter from my sister
Letter from my friend
Letter from my boss
Letter stating my income
Letter stating where I live

Now I'm less than pleased with this agency as they edit my letters with incorrect English, but does anyone know where I can look at some sample letters. The sister and friend examples are the ones I'm struggling with the most.

Kind regards Andy

There are two types of visas to marry, so it is really important you state exactly which one is being applied for.

Marriage visit visa - costs about £80 and applicant must leave UK after marriage.

Fiance visa - costs £1195, can switch to spouse visa within the UK after marriage.

There are no 'sample' letters as there are no 'one size fits all' situations.

What are the reasons you have been asked for these letters?
Letter from my mother
Letter from myself
Letter from my sister -
Letter from my friend
Letter from my boss
Letter stating my income
Letter stating where I live
It is not a difficult application and a number of these are not required. An advisor is not really needed unless you like losing money. You need to follow the guidance notes on what must be submitted, anything over the top will be ignored.

I agree that the letters are not all needed but if I'm asked for them I shall provide them.

I can't find any set guidance notes, certainly not by our government. Although I have found a good recent blog.

This is the official HO website.

https://www.gov.uk/join-family-in-uk/overview

And below is the link with the guide to supporting documents from the HO website, so not sure why you were not able to find it.

https://www.gov.uk/government/uploads/s ... lement.pdf

If extra document are NOT asked for by HO, then not needed. What according to your adviser are these letter suppose to say?

Thats why I'm looking for examples! They are supposed to back up the fact we are in a genuine relationship.

Thanks for the links, I'll have a look.

Letters from friends and family carry very little weight in determining 'genuine relationship', anyone can write a letter saying xyz.

Evidence of continued communication and contact, visits, holidays, photos etc is what HO want to see.
