British Passport application - a few questions

Post by mthom123 » Sun Mar 05, 2017 5:56 pm

Hi All

As an adult 1st time applicant for a British passport, do I really have to provide my grandparents details (names, birth dates, town & country of birth and date of marriage) ?

Section 4 says this is required if they were born after 1982 OR were born abroad. I am 40 and my grandparents were been born abroad in early 1900's. So seems to apply.

But it just seems over the top to give this info - Is this (grandparents details) really required for adult applicants?

Thanks
M

British Passport - Countersignature (Section 10)

Post by mthom123 » Sun Mar 05, 2017 6:00 pm

Hi

I have seen some historical posts on the forum saying if doing a JCAP application (simultaneous application for Naturalisation and for British Passport) through NCS that if the Form AN referees' section has already been completed, then the Passport form's Countersignature section (section 10) is not required.

Is this still the case? Or should I get the Countersignature section completed as a precaution anyway?

Thanks
M

It is not necessary to start a new topic with each question you have on the same application. Keep your questions in a single topic (this one).

If you are applying for a passport after naturalising as British then you are NOT required to complete your grandparents details.

Thanks CR001. How about if completing the Passport form (1st time UK adult passport) together with the AN form (JCAP / NCS) , is it still not necessary to provide grandparent details?

No, it is not.

Please remember that the passport form is the same form for everyone applying, including British born people who are required to complete the grandparents details.

Please don't send me PMs asking for immigration advice on posts that are on the open forum. If I haven't responded there, it's because I don't have the answer. I'm a moderator, not a legal professional.
