Birth Certificate

Post by cblpah » Mon Mar 06, 2017 2:07 pm

Hi everyone, I have a question I wanted to run by you.

I was born in South Korea and the concept of a birth certificate is not the same as it is in the US or the UK (it is not an official government record). So I basically have a document that states the name of the hospital I was born and the date.

1. I am assuming I need to provide translation of the document. Does that translation need to be certified, and can I do it myself?

2. Does it matter which country I get the copy (of the document) certified?

Oh, and I am submitting an application for the fiancee visa. I have a US passport, but I know I obviously need to show proof of birth.

Thanks for your time!

Where in the form and guidance notes does it ask for proof of birth?

I read in the UKVI guidelines that the applicant should submit a birth certificate. Maybe I'm wrong?
