NHS Treatment for Wife on Spouse Visa?

Post by James1859 » Fri Mar 10, 2017 12:26 pm

Hello Everyone

I am a British Citizen and wife is here living with me in the UK on a Spouse Visa and we have a baby daughter (1.5 years old). I am in full time employment and earning 48K per annum.

Is my wife eligible for free treatment in the NHS? Does she need to pay for medicine? Glasses? Dentist?

I keep getting conflicting information and I'm totally confused.

Any help and clarification would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you

Does she need to pay for medicine? Yes she has to pay the prescription charges. Only children and people over 60 or those with certain illnesses (diabetes) or disabilities or on certain benefits do not pay for medications.

Glasses? Yes she pays. Only children and people with certain illnesses (diabetes) or disabilities or on certain benefits do not pay or pay a reduced amount for glasses.

Dentist? Yes Only children and people on certain benefits do not pay for dentistry.
