Question about work contract duration

Post by mq9999 » Fri Mar 10, 2017 8:44 pm

Hi, I will be able to apply for ILR in a few months' time, switching from Tier 2. At the time of application, I will have about 11 months left in my work contract and 12 months left in my T2 visa. Is this going to be a problem? Can Home Office just say, well, work until your contract runs out and get the hell out? Thanks a lot in advance!

You only require a letter from your employer stating absences, your position, salary and that 'you will be required in your position for the foreseeable future'.

Do you meet the £35,000pa salary requirement?

By contract, I assume you mean your employment contract with your visa sponsor and that you are not actually 'contracting' through an umbrella company or similar :?:

Hi, thanks for the reply! Yes, salary requirement, etc have all been met. And yes, it's an employment contract with my COS sponsor.

Any migrant that has a fixed length visa can only have a fixed term employment contract. Mine were exactly the same and then updated once I got ILR.

Mine is actually a fixed term contract (not fixed because of the visa). But I guess in the eyes of the Home Office, it's the same as yours?

I don't believe you are required to submit a contract. In any event, a contract is renewable. You definitely require the letter though that I mentioned in my first post.

Yes, thank you. So I should ask the HR to word the letter exactly as in the SET(O) form? 'foreseeable future'? plus other info, salary, occupational code, etc?
