Required docs and NCS

Post by immquestions » Sun Mar 12, 2017 4:35 pm

Hi,

I can't find a topic where all the required docs are listed. I hope you don't mind verifying if this is what would be needed?

Background info: ILR based on employment, and married to a BC.

- Form AN
- 2 Photos
- Passports
- Absence list (from myself and employer) for past 3 years
- P60 for past 3 years
- Spouse's passport copy
- BRP

Anything else is needed?

If using NCS, then original passports and BRP can be kept right?
But what does the NCS staff help with exactly besides certifying copies of the IDs? I read that they cannot state whether the submitted documents are missing anything.

And when an appointment with NCS takes place, is that the day of application? Or do they return the documents and it's up to the applicant to submit them?

Yes

They will check whether you got everything required and scan through your application form. Clearly if anything is missing they will tell you. They do not work for UKVI.
And when an appointment with NCS takes place, is that the day of application?
Yes
Or do they return the documents and it's up to the applicant to submit them?
No - they will submit to UKVI

Thank you for your reply.

I forgot to mentioned the LIUK exam and English degree in the list of docs.
But anything other than that needs to be submitted, especially in relation to the original immigration route?

And if you don't mind me asking, how was the NCS experience? How does the appointment go? What docs did you submit? And how long did it take for your application to be decided?

And if the local council doesn't have appointments in the near future, can one pick any other council? Would that be frowned upon?

Only submit what's required by the AN application, which is not visa, you are not proving ILR again.
And if you don't mind me asking, how was the NCS experience? It was so good I had two appointments - seriously, they picked up on me having the wrong English document, so had to make another appointment, still cheaper than loosing the fee.
How does the appointment go? What docs did you submit? And how long did it take for your application to be decided? As above, went well, same as your docs apart from PR in my case and employer letter rather than P60 (10 years with same). Application took two months plus 1 month wait for ceremony.
And if the local council doesn't have appointments in the near future, can one pick any other council? Would that be frowned upon?Any council can be picked, no effect on application (NCS is run by councils, not HO).

Thank you once again!

When it comes to the referees, do we have to include copies of their passports? or would the details on the form be enough?

And can both referees be people who worked with us in the same company?

Thank you Char.

By related, you mean relatives right? But if these colleagues have become friends that is fine? They're also friends to each other.

Correct yes. Not related means not blood relatives or related through marriage.

Very appreciated Char.

A couple more questions if I may:

- If using NCS, would the original BRP also stay with me, or is it just the original passport?

- I was reading the JCAP rules and it states that section 10 in the passport application does not need to be filled (the section that asks for counter signatories).
However, it then states "The referees of the nationality application form and the passport application form are required to be the same person in line with referee guidelines."

So do referees only fill in their details on the AN form, or they need to fill the passport too? The quoted point states they need to be the same, but they are not actually filling in the passport form. What do you take of that?

- Do I need to provide P60s for all years or just last 3 since I'm married to a BC?

- This year's P60 won't be with me until May or June. So shall I provide 2 years of P60 and 11 month of payslips?

- Do I need to provide a letter from the employer?

- Do I need to include copies of utility bills spread across last 3 years?

Thank you again!

Regarding P60s and payslips, any feedback from other members?

By the way, CR001, when attending NCS, do we need to bring a prepaid special delivery envelope? Or do they post the application themselves and provide the royal mail tracking number?

No, they send it themselves, no need to take on with you as you will have all your original documents. Pre paid special delivery envelope is if you apply by post yourself and want your original documents returned safely.

Thanks once again Char for taking the time to help people out!

Quick question: my 2 referees just returned the form to me, but under "how do you know the applicant, state age and profession", they wrote down the 'how' and 'profession' but not the age.
Is that a problem, keeping in mind that the next question asks about the date of birth anyway, and that is filled in?

Sorry to trouble you all, but are P60s required or not, if applying as spouse of BC, but was on a work visa before?
Can't seem to locate that requirement in the guidance, yet many people on this forum mention it.

Your spouse applies for BC in her own right - all applications are individual. If spouse works/worked then provide the relevant details (can be P60 or employer letter).

Sorry, I meant I'm the spouse of a BC, but my original route was a work visa.
So do I need P60s?

Is there really any harm in carrying them with you? If NCS take them then great, if not, not big deal. HO will check your tax affairs against your NI number.

Hi Char,

the problem is trying to locate all these P60s, plus this year's P60 is not out, so this would mean taking a year worth of payslips too?
I agree with you that checking via the NIN would be ideal.

Many members have reported that NCS are not taking P60s anyway and have had no issue.

Which doesn't really make sense. Many former employers simply do not issue a letter of employment, because they don't care. And they have absolutely no obligation to do so.

Which leaves you with the very few options, one of them being P60.

The requirements for those on ILR are marginally different to those on the EEA/EU path. EU citizens are asked to prove residency with documents. Those on ILR only require their passports which are stamped. The P60 issue is to show proof of paying NI/tax, so not sure in what context you are commenting in this topic.

Hello again,

I am wondering about the following:

Around 6 years ago, I changed employers and the starting date on the CoS was amended by the new employer in a sponsor note before I applied for a change of employer. This was done in order to be able to serve a few weeks of notice to the previous employer (as a matter of fact, the 4 weeks notice was agreed on during interview, but somehow when they assigned the CoS they selected the wrong date then fixed it in a note).

Will the naturalisation officer be able to see that old note in the system? If not, the worry is that he/she might think that I worked at the previous employer past the start date of the new CoS / job, and hence affect the good character requirement.
In the AN form, I stated the right start/end dates of each job.

The issue is that there is no way to verify that they did take the sponsor note into consideration at that time, and I can't tell if the naturalisation officer can actually view the note.

CR001, any feedback on my question above please?

I'd like to also inquire about the following: spouse was in a previous marriage quite some time ago (decree absolute in 1999). She's not sure if the previous husband applied for naturalization right before divorce, and whether or not he did that using the fact he was married to her. Let's assume for the sake of argument that he did apply under 6(2) at that time, would this affect my current application? i.e. would 6(2) only apply if the spouse has never been part of a previous application for naturalisation? And would it matter that, if it took place, that was 18 years ago?
