Application Location ILR

Hi,

My wife (US citizen) will have completed her 5 years in Jan 2018, we have been asked to be in the USA for 4 months from November 2017 for a work project (all income is taxed in UK etc).

Trying to work out if we must return to the UK in Jan 2018 to complete the ILR application and send off US passport, trying to avoid another £2k costs on flights on an already expensive process due to me being British:)

Could we FedEx the passport back to the UK and have this submitted and then when approved have passport and documents FedEx to the US and live happily ever after?

She must be in the UK to apply for ILR, it cannot be applied for from outside the UK. You cannot 'fedex' the passport and application.

Thank you, I thought that would be the case but thought I would ask just in case!

She can apply in person for a same day decision and then wait the 7-10 days for ILR biometric residence permit to arrive.
