Switching Tier 2 General to Tier 2 Dependent Visa

Post by Chandan1 » Mon Mar 13, 2017 8:50 pm

My wife and a i have our own tier 2 General visa. As we passed university from UK and started our first job in UK.

My wife is getting a job which doesn't sponsor but pays more than current and offer better perks :) .
So i want to know whether she can switch the visa from Tier 2 General Visa to Tier 2 Dependent visa in UK.

What about her Indefinite leave to remain clock?

Someone having ILR (Indefinite leave to remain) for her partner what would be requirement to get ILR?
Even though she had already lived in UK for 1 year masters, and 2 years on her own Tier 2 General Visa and 2 years on Tier 2 Dependent Visa.

So i want to know whether she can switch the visa from Tier 2 General Visa to Tier 2 Dependent visa in UK. Yes she can switch within the UK and she can use premium same day service.

What about her Indefinite leave to remain clock? Her clock will be reset to zero for ILR based on 5 years residence.

Someone having ILR (Indefinite leave to remain) for her partner what would be requirement to get ILR? Not sure I understand your question. She needs 5 years Tier 2 dependent before qualifying for ILR.

Even though she had already lived in UK for 1 year masters, and 2 years on her own Tier 2 General Visa and 2 years on Tier 2 Dependent Visa. She cannot use this combination of visas to make up 5 years. She must have 5 years as Tier 2 General dependent to qualify for ILR.
