I need an advice.

Post by Rohit96 » Tue Mar 14, 2017 8:15 pm

Hi everyone,

I came to the UK at 2009 and have completed BA and Masters from UK universities. I am short of 28 months to complete ten years in the UK. It is very difficult to get an admission in UK universities for PhD or work permit is very expensive. I want to stay in the UK, many of my friends have suggested FLR as an alternative am I allowed to work during FLR. Can that help me progress to apply for ILR in future I am confused can anyone help me?

Thank You in advance

Rohit

What is your current visa status?

FLR is not a 'magic ticket' visa to buy time (yes, HO are very aware of this trick) and it is difficult to get. You would need to explain your circumstances a bit more.

You have posted in the Tier 1 Entrepreneur sub forum, which might not be the correct place.

I am in the UK as a tier 4 student since October 2009, I have now completed my BA and Masters from university, i have lived in the UK continuously for a long time. I am right now at tier 4 visa and it expires in June 2017. I want to know what option do I have to complete 10 years to apply for ILR.

-There does not seem to be any basis for your to apply under FLR to stay in the UK.
-I do not think that getting a PhD admission as an international student is very difficult unless you want a full studentship or if you have had generally a poor academic performance/track.
-There is always a possibility of finding employers who can sponsor you under Tier 2 general, this depends mostly on your field of expertise and skills.
-You can try to see if you can get endorsement from Department for International Trade or UK higher education institution and apply under Tier 1 (Graduate Entrepreneur) visa. Alternatively, you can switch to Tier 1 Entrepreneur directly if you can secure at least £50,000 from a seed fund or a government department.

P.S. I think you better discuss your ILR options in the ILR sub forum so I moved your topic there :!:

Have you read the statement in Zimba's signature at the bottom of all his posts?

Please don't send me PMs asking for immigration advice on posts that are on the open forum. If I haven't responded there, it's because I don't have the answer. I'm a moderator, not a legal professional.
