Switch from Tier 2 General Dependent to Tier 2 General Main

Post by satm » Thu Mar 23, 2017 5:04 pm

Hi There
My wife is on tier 2 general visa and I am dependent on her. As salary requirement is changing after March so her employer is asking to extend by March, 2017 though previous visa is expiring on May, 2017. Now I want to move to Tier 2 general from tier 2 dependent and will go back to my country for switching. My questions are

1) can I stay in UK till May, 2017? Will I be over stayer as I am not extending visa along with my wife by this March? Do I need to inform UKVI?
2) If I go back to my country and apply before May though my wife would be applied by that time, will it be any problem?

Please reply asap, already I am late.

You can stay as long as your visa is valid. HO might question your wife why the dependent is not applying at the same time. No need to inform HO.

Your Tier 2 General application is completely separate to your wife's Tier 2 General application and neither is dependent on the other.
