Tier 2 ICT dependent to General Visa

Post by rolipandit » Thu Mar 30, 2017 10:40 am

Hi,
Currently I am in UK on ICT visa. I came to UK in May 2016 and my visa is valid upto April 2018. I am staying here with my husband who is at ICT dependent visa. I do understand that I cant change my visa to tier 2 general so my queries are:
1. Is it possible for my husband (who is ICT dependent visa) to apply for Tier 2 General visa.
2. If yes, then do we need to cancel his dependent visa or he can directly apply for general visa
3. What is the process involved to get him general visa.
4. Do he needs to go back to India to apply for general visa.
5. I want to understand overall procedure.

Thanks in advance

1. Is it possible for my husband (who is ICT dependent visa) to apply for Tier 2 General visa.
Yes. He must apply from home country once he has a sponsor and the full and proper RLMT process has been completed and the CoS issued.
2. If yes, then do we need to cancel his dependent visa or he can directly apply for general visa
No need to cancel. If he is issued a Tier 2 General visa, his dependent visa is cancelled automatically.
3. What is the process involved to get him general visa.
He needs a sponsor, they must do RLMT process before they can offer him the job and issue a CoS. He then applies and waits for outcome.
4. Do he needs to go back to India to apply for general visa.
Yes.
5. I want to understand overall procedure.

He cannot switch in the UK. So, he must apply from India when ready.

Thanks @CR001 and @Vinny

Once my husaband gets the tier-2 general visa, Is it possible for him to opt permanent jobs ?
or Is it mandatory to work on contract jobs only under the sponsered Umbrella company.
Thanks

or Is it mandatory to work on contract jobs only under the sponsered Umbrella company. This is NOT permitted or allowed on Tier 2 General It is illegal to do this, contracting AND working for an umbrella company. Not sure why you think this is 'mandatory'??
Thanks
