Need help!

Post by Manishman » Sat Apr 01, 2017 11:37 pm

Hi,

So I got my BRP card last year october, I got it through my 2 daughters and based on family life. Along with the card, I got a letter outlining some conditions pertaining to the BRP.

One of it was that me nor my wife can apply for housing benefit or get housing accomodation. Here is the thing, When I applied to remain in the country, we were residing with my mother in law who is renting through a housing association. The home office did not mention no where in the letter that I need to move out after getting my BRP. I am wondering, based on that condition on the letter, if I have to move out and rent privately (which I can't afford at the moment) or if it would be a problem to remain with my mother in law?

Please help in anyway you can.. Thanks

It isn't you or your wife claiming so no issue.

However, your M-I-L is required to inform the HA that you are living there and if you are working and she claims HB, your income will be included in the assessment for HER eligibility of HB.
