Parents bank statement for Tier 2 visa application

Post by Silviu07 » Sun Apr 02, 2017 6:38 pm

Hi,

I have secured a job in the UK and now I need to apply for a Tier 2 general visa from my home country.

As a recent graduate, I cannot provide a bank statement on my name showing at least £945 for a continuous period of 90 days. I was wondering if it is possible to use my parents bank statement, along with evidence that they are my parents (birth certificate) and with a letter from them certifying they support me for the purpose of my application.

I know this is something acceptable for Tier 4 student visa, not sure it applies for Tier 2 visas.

Can someone please offer some advice or clarification please. It would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you
Kind regards
Silviu

Didn't your employer certify funds for you in the COS? That's the best option if you don't have enough funds.

Other option.. if you add yourself as joint account holder, then you may potentially use your parents money as evidence.

169.If you wish to rely on a joint account as evidence of available funds, you must be named on
the account along with one or more other named individual(s).

170.Where the funds are in a currency other than pounds sterling, the amount we consider will
be based on the exchange rate for the relevant currency on the date of the application, taken
from the rates published on Oanda.

My advice is based on personal research/experience, so pls check relevant UKVI sources.

If you were on Tier 4, why did you not switch within the UK??

I am not sure if my employer would be able to certify funds for my application, hence why i want to explore all the options.

I was on the Tier 4, but my visa expired by the time I secured the job.
