Tier 2 Dependent extension

Hello,

I am posting this query on behalf of my friend.

My friend is currently on Tier 2 visa and is eligible for ILR in 8 weeks time, but his dependent will only be eligible for ILR next year (based on 5 year route). His & his dependent's limited leave to remain on Tier 2 basis is about to expire in 9 weeks time. He is planning for a single day premium service for his ILR application a week before his current visa expiry. He has the following questions:

1) Can the Tier 2 dependent apply for postal application to extend her tier 2 PBS dependent visa now without the main applicant? Or, should she has to wait till the Main applicant gets his ILR approved?
2) If, she can apply now, should she need the letter from his employer that his service is needed for the foreseeable future?

Your Friend's dependents may apply for extension of their leave to remain prior to or post him applying for his ILR! They would not need any letter from his employer as long as they meet the maintenance criteria.

The dependent should apply AFTER main applicant has been granted ILR. Dependent can apply by post or in person before their current visa expires.

A PBS Dependent cannot apply for an extension without the main PBS holder applying, unless the main PBS holder has obtained ILR.
