Extending ICT - short term staff visa

Post by Buru » Thu Apr 20, 2017 2:35 pm

Good afternoon! I'm trying to understand whether I can extend my ICT - short term staff visa which expires this summer. I know that this type of visa is no longer issued, so I'm trying to understand what my options are. I am also aware of the cooling off period to apply for a new visa once I leave the U.K. However, can I extend the current visa without leaving the U.K. and make it, for example, Tier 2 (general)? Finally, how long can I stay after my resident permit expires? Or do I have to leave the same day? If it makes any difference, I came to the country three weeks after the start of my visa. Many thanks in advance for your thoughts!

I am also aware of the cooling off period to apply for a new visa once I leave the U.K. However, can I extend the current visa without leaving the U.K. and make it, for example, Tier 2 (general)? You are not able to switch to Tier 2 General within the UK. Cooling off period applies to you.

Finally, how long can I stay after my resident permit expires? Or do I have to leave the same day? You should leave before your visa expires or at least on the last day of its validity. That aside, you will possibly only have 30 days after your visa expires but this can possibly have consequences in future applications.

If it makes any difference, I came to the country three weeks after the start of my visa. Many thanks in advance for your thoughts! Makes no difference.
