Cab Working single father with 1 child can get council house?
As l can't afford to pay for rent and child care at the same time
Will l have any priority because of the child and risk of being homeless?

Where is the child's mother?

Can you not apply for housing benefit?

What is your salary?

Do you claim the free child care per week (child care vouchers through your employer maybe)?

There are very long waiting lists for council housing. If you risk being homeless, expect temporary accommodation in a B&B etc. You should be aware that if you are made homeless due to rent arrears, the council won't help you as you have made yourself intentionally homeless if evicted for this reason.
