BRP expiry date not matching with cos expiry dates

Post by chandanprakashkudlu » Fri Apr 28, 2017 7:28 am

Hello Team,
Below is my concern.

I landed in UK during 2o15 October, at that time HMRC volunteered by sending mail to me and confirmed saying you have got a wrong BRP card so please return and get a new BRP card, which I did.

The new BRP card which I have received has dates as below:

Cos Expiry Date: 31 July 2017
BRP expiry date: 18 Aug 2018

If you observe above dates, there is almost 1 year gap between cos expiry and BRP expiry!

Is this expected? Or you see there is a need for me to get my BRP corrected as per COS dates?

Also, since my cos will expire in 3 months, I will have to go for its renewal that means new cos and new BRP card , so is it worth getting my current BRP card corrected?

Appreciate your response

Regards
Chandan

Sorry forgot to mention. It's Tier2 ICT long term visa .

Also, when COS expires , will that be renewed or new COS to be assigned, and what happens to BRP card in either of situations?

Appreciate your response.

Thanks and regards
Chandan

HMRC doesn't deal with BRP cards.

You don't what the 'error' was on the first BRP.

When were you contacted and how soon after arriving was this? Your dates don't make sense, arrived in Oct 2015 but have a BRP valid from July 2017??

Your 'CoS' doesn't expire. It is your VISA that expires. To get a new one, you will need a new CoS and you will have to apply for a new visa. Your current BRP visa is cancelled when you get a new visa.

Hello,
Thanks for your response.

Sorry about the dates. I have detailed below :

10th Oct 2015 : Arrived to UK, and collected the BRP card very next day.

20th Oct 2015 : Got mail from BRPError@homeoffice.gsi.gov.uk saying have issues with your BRP card, submit the one you have in hand and collect the new one from Post office. Which I did and collected new BRP card .

Now I have my COS and BRP with below dates :

COS Start Date = 3rd OCT 2015
COS End Date = 31st JULY 2017
BRP Expiry Date = 20 AUG 2018

DO you see issue with respect to expiry date on my new BRP Card ?

What should I or myCompany should be doing to make sure I continue to work in UK after 31st July 2017 ?

Appreciate your response.

Thanks and regards

It isn't an issue.

You are still not stating all the dates of the original BRP.

Hello,
Below dates are accurate.

COS Start Date = 3rd OCT 2015
COS End Date = 31st JULY 2017
BRP Expiry Date = 20 AUG 2018

The BRP Expiry date is 1year ahead of my Cos Expiry date, that's is why even I am not sure if this is something that need to be fixed ? .

IN most of my friend cases, BRP expiry date is just 1month after COS expiry date, where as in my case it's 1year !

Now my company is in confusion, if I should correct my BRP first and then go for COS extension or should I go for COS extension first and then correct the BRP as required .

Thanks and regards

ideally Tier 2 ICT long term visa are being issued now in two categories 1) up to 3 years and 2) more than 3 years (up to 5 years). When the COS is raised it seems who ever is managing the SMS might have raised it for 2 years instead of 3 years. but visa seems to have been issued for 3 years as it is the case for most of the tier 2 ICT long term visa.

Do you remember what was the difference between the two BRPs' (the one you returned and the one you received after correction ) .

I think your visa cell or the guys managing the SMS should recheck the original COS for the dates and check with UKVI that this is not an issue . ideally the company representative should have checked this when the visa was issued in 2015.
