Younger Sibling from SVG to UK

Post by fonker2 » Fri Apr 28, 2017 11:49 am

Hi all, i am new here and im seeking some advice before i get the professionals involved.

I have recently learnt that i have a younger brother (Aged 7) who currently lives on the island of St Vincent.
I was born in the UK and im a British Citizen.
He is not really wanted by his birth mother who was married to my father before he passed away 2 years ago.
She would like him to come and live with me as the opportunities available to him would be so much better.

We currently have different surnames but my adoption records show we have the same father.

I know that my brother can come and stay in the UK for 6 months just on his passport but we are looking for him to live with us permanently but not adopted (kinship fostering or similar)

We will be looking for sole guardianship but im unsure what immigration visa i would possibly need.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Trevor

Was your father British and born in the UK??

Sole responsibility/guardianship is a court process which the mother must do and you need to be involved in.

Hi, thanks for the reply.

My father was SVG born but lived in the UK from 1968, he did move to the USA at some point and came back to the UK briefly then went back to SVG until his death in 2015.
