Hi there,
My wife and me are from China and got the ILR status in 11/2016. We have a daughter who was born in the UK in 2014. We were planning to apply the citizenship for the child but before we had the time to do so, due to some urgent issues we all went back to China in 03/2017. Now my wife and myself both are back to the UK, however because our daughter does not have any UK visa so she is still with grandparents outside UK.
Question is, can we apply the citizenship for our daughter here in the UK? It says the child will be required for the biometric information after we submit the citizenship application. As she is under 6 years old she no need to give fingerprint but she needs to have a photo taken. Can she do that in China, while we submit the application here in the UK?
Another question is, at the same time of citizenship application we would like to use the Nationality Checking Service to apply the British Passport for her. As I understand in the passport application, she will need to submit the Chinese Passport, which is currently in China. Can she post her Chinese passport to the UK and we submit it?
Would appreciate relevant and clear advice from the readers!
Thanks and best regards
