Please don't give incorrect advise. There is NO requirement to have this level of money in a bank account for a visitor visa. Depending on how long he intends to visit, he needs sufficient to cover his expenses and spending money to maintain himself. If only coming for a couple of weeks £10K is likely sufficient.
@CR001 I am not giving any wrong advice. Op's uncle is coming to visit Historical Places not to visit OP's and OP's doesn't want to sponsor him.
Op's uncle is coming from a country where some people even sell their homes in order to get UK visit visa. £10K anyone can easily deposit in their bank account if they sell the property or borrow from some relatives . ECO's in India and Pakistan know this very well.
I am not saying OP's uncle will do the same, but in the past few people did that to get visit visas. But on the other hand if someone has very strong financial background like wealthy businessman they get the visit visa straight away.
Everyone knows that visit visas r very rare to get these days. OP can try with 10k but chances r not much as compare to amount which i mentioned. Again social ties r also very important to convince the ECO than person will go back after his visit.
All i am trying to say that person must have very strong financial background. I gave OP's a rough amount that what i meant when i said strong financial background.
