Discretionary Leave Extension

Post by kaeliathane » Wed Apr 26, 2017 3:56 pm

Hello,

I'm sorry if this has been answered elsewhere, but I couldn't find it. I've been in the UK for 11 years now, the last six on Discretionary Leave. 6 years ago I meant to apply to stay on the basis of my unmarried partnership, but accidentally applied a few days after my visa expired, so I was given discretionary leave, which I renewed 3 years ago.

I know that I could apply for settlement, but I can't afford the exorbitant fee, so I'm just looking to extend my visa. I spoke to someone at UK Visas and Immigration who advised me to use form FLR(HRO), but looking through the guidance it says not to use that form if you are applying on the basis of family/private life. Was I misinformed?

Thank you so much for any help.

indefinite leave to remain after discretionary leave

Post by kaeliathane » Sun Apr 30, 2017 7:23 pm

Hello,

I've been in the UK for 11 years now, the last six on Discretionary Leave. 6 years ago I meant to apply to stay on the basis of my unmarried partnership, but accidentally applied a few days after my visa expired, so I was given discretionary leave, which I renewed 3 years ago.

I'm applying now for settlement, and have a few questions:

1. Is SET (O) the correct form for me?
2. The guidance notes are kind of vague on what kind of documentation I need to include with my application. Do I need to include proof of co-habitation, etc?
3. Are there any specific financial requirements, or just should I just generally show that my partner (a British citizen) can support ourselves?

Thanks so much for any help.

Sorry, I should clarify: since posting the first question, we've taken a second look at finances and decided it makes more sense to apply for IRL.
