Do years missing CSI count towards PR?

Post by sQu1rr » Wed May 03, 2017 5:12 pm

Hey, guys!

I am planning to apply for UK citizenship at some point in the future, hopefully before Brexit, and currently, I want to apply for PR. I lived in the UK for almost 5 years now:

2012-2016 University
2014-2015 Paid placement with private insurance
2016- self-employed

I only had EHIC on my first two years of the university, not the last year, so I have around 10 months missing comprehensive sickness insurance (between mid 2015 and mid 2016). Will that simply not count towards PR and I will be able to apply for it after 5 years and 10 months since I entered the UK? I am worried if that will somehow nullify my continuous presence in the UK - as in I wasn't "lawfully" residing during those 10 months because of the missing CSI?

I am grateful for your replies and advice.

Alex

You need to have held a valid foreign issued EHIC or CSI for the whole period you were a student.

Did you do any type of work while studying?

I found out too late... That's why I am wondering if that will count as if I left the UK for 10 months?

freelanced online - but haven't declared or paid any taxes... registered as self-employed as soon as finished university
