Tier 2 and modelling

Post by Burbushelka7 » Fri May 05, 2017 1:59 pm

If I am full time employed with Tier 2 Visa General (Sponsored), could I do some modelling in a free time, agancy pay some extra cash for video and cloth modelling? Is it eligible? This doesn't involve NI number.

Thanks

So I mean in terms of a law this is not good and might be a problem in the future?
I just afraid of doing something wrong in the UK, but do need extra money to get by in London...

You should NOT be working in any capacity for anyone else other than your sponsor or the permitted 20 hours supplementary work allowed in the SAME field as your sponsored job.

You should NOT be working for 'cash in hand' either. This is well known for people avoiding paying tax.

Be very aware of the 100s of scam model agencies out there who will happily take your money and you get very little back.

If you cannot afford living in London, suggest find a cheaper option of accommodation. Are you being paid the required rate of pay for your SOC?

Thank you for your piece of advice! I would not go for this option!

Well I am paid a minimum required to be sponsored and getting a new experince in the UK is important, but means to be on economy drive all the time..

Could you advise me please, after 3 years how long can I extend a Visa again, and what is a period of time before I need to start this process?
What the salary should be, I heard that it's been increased up to 35k?

You can extend up to a maximum of 3 years as you cannot hold Tier 2 General for more than 6 years.

£35K is for ILR, which you can apply for after 5 years if you meet all the requirements.

There was a recent change in April regarding minimum salary of £30k but think this is for CoS assigned before 6th April 2017. See the policy guidance below, page 24.

Apart from your regular job, you can take up a secondary job for a max of 20 hours a week in the same SoC your visa was issued for.
