Marriage certificate problem

Post by gladiator56 » Mon May 08, 2017 6:15 pm

Hi, (complicated situation) My daughter who lives in France wanted to apply for Irish citizenship and needed my marriage certificate as one of the documents. I am remarried to my current partner who is from the Philippines on a spouse visa, we have to apply for FLR again in November. I sent the document (with my partner's permission) to France last November (2016) it is now in the hands of Irish immigration. My daughter has since fallen out with me and is not communicating!
I am extremely worried for two reasons, firstly, the length of time it is taking for the document to be processed and secondly, the possibility that she might not return it to me. I read in the visa regulations that only the original certificate will be accepted. Has anyone any prior experience of having a copy marriage certificate rejected or am I worrying unneccessarily? Thanks. G56

If you explain the 'original is lost in post' and you only have copy it should be fine as presumably it was used previously for the spouse visa.
