Tier 2 General Dependent Extension and Main Applicant ILR

Hello All,

I would like to seek an advice from you regarding the Tier-2 General Dependent Visa extension of my wife.

I hold an ILR (Got it on October 2016 through 5-Year route) at the moment. My wife entered UK on June 2015 as Tier-2 General Dependent. Her extension is due on October 2017.

I believe I can extend my wife visa in the same category as she is now (PBS dependent). Correct me if I am wrong.

The issue right now is I am on a break from the employment due to personal reasons (I am not getting or seeking any benefits from public fund).

I have sufficient fund to show the maintenance for my wife apart from my own expenses and the newborn.

So the question is, Is it mandatory to get any letter from my previous employer or to be in any employment to extend her visa?

I ask this because I remember I got a letter from my previous employer and submitted 3 months payslips to show my employment status when I first applied for Tier-2 General Dependent Visa for my wife. I cannot do that right now.

Considering this situation, please can you let me know what are the documents required to extend a PBS dependent visa?

Any help/advice in this regard would be much appreciated.

Note: Apologies if this is a redundant question. I couldn't find any thread with similar situation.

No, it is not necessary to get letters.

If that is the case, I understand that it is also not mandatory to be under any employment when I extend her visa.

No it is not, you must show maintenance though.

Hello Gurus

This is in continuation of my last query regarding PBS dependent Extension application.

I am in the process of applying PBS dependent visa for my wife now and got a query in filling up the application.

The questions that I am struggling to answer are:

Is Mr.X's work in a Shortage Occupation List? - Yes
What is the length of Mr.X's CoS? - 3Years or Less
Has Mr.X's sponsor agreed to certify your maintenance? No.

As I stated earlier, I am currently not with the same employer and I hold ILR. I have recently set a limited company and about to get into new engagement. In this case, Is the given answer correct as these were the status when I was in Tier 2 General earlier?

Any advice on this would be much appreciated.
