regarding 90 days outside the UK before applying.

Post by suiko5 » Thu May 11, 2017 8:44 am

Hi everyone,so i became a permanent resident since semptember 2016 which means i have to wait one year before applying for british citizenship and get the passport.. This year im not supposed to be outside of the uk for more than 90 days which is ok but once this year is completed in semptember 2017 do i have another 90 days to be out?
I was told that if apply in semptember once i complete the one year requirement i can ask for my passport back after couple of months and travel the time i need to but i would prefer to travel first in december and when i return to apply for citizeship. Will that be ok?
Whats the best way to do it.thanks

The requirement is 90 days max absence the 12 months back from the date of application. After the application, subject to biometrics having been done, you are free to travel without restrictions. For BC application recommend you use NCS/JCAP service - you will retain your original documents and can also apply for your first British passport. There is no early return of documents if you apply directly by post.

JCAP= Joint Citizenship and Passport scheme. You apply for both at NCS. You keep all your original documents if you apply at NCS.
