Hi there,
I have an interesting, but perhaps a complex question.
I have submitted my application for naturalisation along with the actual passport application via NCS in April 2017.
I am now in the middle of changing my last name (not related to marriage), but more for personal reasons. I have submitted this request to my embassy in London. Approval process takes around 1 month. If my request does go through, I will immediately need to change my passport and the identity card to reflect such a change. But because my application for the naturalisation is still going through, I don't know how to proceed, since they are at this stage handling my application with my 'old' last name - I think it is a must that I send my new passport to the home office to inform them, but at the same time I am worried that they might reject the current application and will request me to submit a new one and of course that will be at additional cost, i.e. £1,300.
Please let me know if any of you have experienced a similar situation, and how best to proceed.
Thank you,
K
