Tier 2 Work Permit Question.

Post by hell_storm2004 » Wed May 24, 2017 5:56 am

Hello All,

I have been looking for a job in England for the past month. I know getting into Europe these days, let alone UK, climbing Everest is easier I guess! :P

But the main problem I am having, is to know which companies do sponsor a Tier 2 work permits. Most of the job boards I look at dont even mention if a sponsorship is available for a role or not (almost 98% of the jobs listed). I tried applying to the big companies who I saw still sponsor work permits. I got it from a UK gov website which has the list of companies which are eligible for sponsoring work permits. Sorry, I dont have the link handy at the moment to post it here. Most of the companies come back with the question, "Are you eligible to work in UK"? If I did, I wouldn't have mentioned "I need sponsorship" on my resume now, would I? And that is where it all goes downhill. Some which do respond, put in such steep expectations, that I get put off. Like flying to England on a short notice for the interview. In the modern day of Skype, that seems to be a bit weird.

I just wanted to know, are my efforts futile or there is hope. If there is hope, is there a better way to go about my job search? Am I going about it the wrong way?

you are on the right track and this is the only way to apply. Look for jobs, see if they can sponsor u from the list u mentioned and then wait for their reply.
It also largely depends on your profession. Some professions are in demand in the UK, others not so much. Some professions also make it a usual process to look beyond the uk, while others dont

Thanks for the reply. And the assurance. I will keep looking. The consultants might be bored by now seeing my name pop up every other day on their mailbox. But I will keep looking. Thanks! :D

Try the NHS, the pay will be low and you will have to pay your visa fees but they sponsor quite a few Tier 2 visas

Hi hell_storm2004,
Please update your progress. I would like to know as I am also struggling to secure a job after my graduation last year. My Tier 4 visa expires soon in July. I received many offers but all turned down after the recruiters knew my work eligibility that requires a sponsorship.
Cheers,

I looked at NHS jobs, the question is not about the pay. Its something that I do not have any experience with.

@Liam: I will keep you posted. But from the looks of things, I wont get anywhere by July. But if you are already in England, I guess it would be a little easier.

The crux is there will be 100's of local experienced people applying too, what chance has an inexperienced non-local who would need effort from the employer to employ?
