Parents only issued 6 months visitors visa

Hello Friends

My parents applied for a 10 year visa but only got a six month visa. Could that be an error ?

They last time got a 5 year visa with no issues. Is there a way to appeal for the visitors visa ?

There is no appeal process for visitor visas.

What does the letter say (if any) that they got with their visa?

What is their travel history like and how long have they stayed in the UK for each visit they made?

And crucially did they overstay any period that they stated when they were asked at the airport? So, for instance, did they state at the airport arrival immigration counter that they will be here for six weeks and stayed four months?

They have come every year for the last 6 years and stayed for about 2.5 to 3 months and never overstayed.. could it be an error ?
They did get a new Indian passport recently.. which didn't have any previous visa stamps.
Is there no way to get more information for the reason for giving a visa for only 6 months ? Feeling a bit frustrated as paid the fees for 10 years!
