Can I do my biometrics in the UK and apply in home country?

Post by a235bha » Sun May 28, 2017 3:56 pm

Hi! I need to apply for a new Tier 4 visa for my Master's degree. It's more than 28 days between the end of my current visa and the start of my new course so I have to apply outside of the country. I was wondering if it's possible to do my biometrics here then finish the application when I return to my home country?

No, if you have to apply from outside the UK then you have to submit your passport and do biometrics at the visa application centre.

You need to do the whole entry clearance process in your home country, including applying online and paying the fee. You would collect your Biometric Residence Permit after you arrive back in the UK, but the Biometrics would be given in your home country.

Submitting an entry clearance application from within the UK is grounds for refusal under paragraph 28 of the immigration rules:

28. An applicant for an entry clearance must be outside the United Kingdom and Islands at the time of the application.

The "time of application" means when you submit the form online and pay the fee.
I do not give immigration advice. I refer you to Immigration Rules, guidance, other online content and to your sponsor.
